Yes, grey items are important, because selling them to venders really adds up over time. Also, with bigger bags, you will have more space to carry all the items from your gathering professions.
This next tip is less about earning more gold and more about saving gold while you level. While leveling, you should NOT be spending money at the auction house to upgrade your gear. Why? Because you’ll be replacing it in a few levels anyways! If you follow any decent leveling guide (and there are lot’s available for free, for instance Jame’s Leveling Guide), or just use QuestHelper, you’ll get plenty of good gear upgrades just from your questing. That way, you don’t have to waste your time running or hearthing back to the major city just to waste gold upgrading your gear – instead, you’ll have more time to quest so you can earn gold from killing mobs and quest rewards, all the while earning gear upgrades as well!
Another great way to save time while you’re leveling a character is to create a level one auction mule. How does this save time? Especially when you’re leveling, traveling isn’t exactly fast, since you don’t have your epic mounts yet or all the flight routes, and traveling is exactly how you’ll get to and from the auction house to sell your goods (items from gathering, green drops you don’t need, etc.) if you don’t create an auction mule. However, if you DO create an auction mule, all you need to do when your bags fill up is find the nearest mailbox and send all your auctionable items to your mule. Your auction mule will always be in the major city of your choice, running between the mailbox and the auction house, and your main character will always be out questing instead of wasting time traveling just to auction items.
Now, what if you’ve already reached top level? What’s the best way to earn WoW gold now? Well, the tips above will still apply when you’re top level, except that you’ll be earning gear upgrades from PvP rewards or raiding instead. Now it’s time to think about professions other than gathering professions. The best way to take advantage of other professions isn’t to ditch one of your gathering professions that you’ve already leveled, but to create a Death Knight alt with the new profession. Why a DK? It only takes a few hours to level a DK past the starting area so it can go to a major city with an auction house, and since you’ll be at least level 58, you don’t have to worry about profession level caps or leveling a completely new character all the way from 1. So, do some research to find a lucrative crafting profession. I recommend inscription because all glyphs and other products from inscription require zero deposit costs at the auction house, but other crafting professions can be profitable too.
The next way to earn gold at top level is through completing dailies. I know, they often get boring and can be very repetitive but if you want to earn that gold, you should at least be doing four or five each day. Find dailies in the same area so you can use your time efficiently. You can even find a few different sets of four or five in different areas so that you don’t have to do the same ones every day. If you’re having trouble finding dailies that go well together, there are lots of daily guides available if you search for them.
My last and most valuable tip for earning WoW gold is to learn from the experts. These are people who have way more time to play than you do and have spent hours and hours finding the most efficient ways of earning gold in World of Warcraft. Now, you might ask why these experts would be sharing this hard earned knowledge with you, and it’s a very fair question.
